Art exhibition: Refugee Action Collective Eurobodalla and Asylum Arts

-

Exhibition opening: Saturday 18 June 2022, 3pm

Exhibition hours: Daily, 10am-2pm

Bas About Town, in conjunction with the Refugee Action Collective Eurobodalla and Asylum Arts, present this powerful exhibition titled 'Hope Rising'. This exhibition coincides with Refugee Week 2022, (held Sunday 19 to Saturday 25 June).

'Hope Rising' showcases works by artists living in refugee detention in Indonesia and local artists whose creative practices draw from refugee issues.

Asylum artists forge their best life in challenging circumstances. They understand negativity does not co-exist well with creativity, so they choose creativity. Painting each day and forming mindful routines assists them to endure life in detention.

A photo of the artist at work and information about their situation will accompany the pieces by the asylum artists.

All sale proceeds from the exhibition will go directly to the artists in Indonesia. Fundraising includes the opportunity to purchase original pieces or a digital image of the work in a range of sizes and prices.
