Art exhibition: Light Shadow Form Space - 4 conversations

-

Where: Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre, corner Vulcan Street and Campbell Street, Moruya

Opening hours: Daily, 10am – 4pm

This exhibition, like most exhibitions, emerges from a series of quiet conversations and intense discussions. The result is four artists coming together to showcase their engagement with light, shadow, form and space for a site-specific installation.

The range of artistic practices - installation, drawing, objects, ceramics, textiles, enamelling and painting reflects not only the versatility of the artists but the rich storehouse of subject matter.

The artists

Diane Appleby continues to develop her intimate, enamelled, hollow forms but the gestural marks on their surface have been expanded to create drawing as wall installations which form a dynamic backdrop to her objects.

Margaret Ainscow has enlarged her three-dimensional, intertwined fabric and wire ribbons to create a sombre, linear wall wreath.

Jo Victoria has moulded paper shapes to echo and contrast her porcelain forms and allow for greater expansion of her spatial installations.

Stephanie Simko has broadened her use of textiles to allow spontaneous mark-making on expansive silk canvasses contrasted with wire forms to throw fine shadows over the surface.
