Scholarship program, guidelines, terms and conditions.
The scholarship program has been created as part of the Little Sellers Art Prize to assist Eurobodalla visual art students in year 11 or 12 to further their studies and support a career path in the arts. The program assists toward the cost of professional development and education in visual arts, this may include the cost of student accommodation, art materials, tuition, studio fees, residencies or study related travel.
The Little Sellers Art Prize and scholarship is sponsored by Mr Basil Sellers AM and administered by Eurobodalla Shire Council through the Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre (the Bas).
Funding available: one individual will be awarded up to $2,000 including GST
Closing date: Friday 24 June 2022, 4.30pm.
Criteria for evaluation: the scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding entry in the Little Sellers Art Prize, by a year 11 or 12 student in Eurobodalla, who will be undertaking further study in visual arts in 2023.
Eligible works will be evaluated on:
- artistic merit of the entry
- originality of the interpretation of theme
- execution and technical skill
- demonstrated need for the scholarship.
Council reserves the right not to award the scholarship for any reason, including but not limited to a lack of entries or entries that do not meet the criteria.
Eligibility: the scholarship will be awarded to a visual art, craft or design student in year 11 or 12 residing in Eurobodalla. Previous Little Sellers scholarship recipients are not eligible. Funds are provided for study taking place from February 2023.
Announcement of scholarship recipient: the recipient will be announced at the Bas as part of the Little Sellers Art Prize presentation and announcement of the prize winners on Monday 15 August 2022.
Acceptance: the recipient will enter in a memorandum of understanding with Council that outlines the responsibilities related to the acceptance of the scholarship.
Payment: payment to the recipient will be made after notification by direct transfer to the applicant’s nominated bank account or separate bank account.
Acknowledgement: the recipient must acknowledge Mr Basil Sellers AM and the Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre in any promotional or media activities related to the scholarship.
Availability: the recipient will be asked to make themselves available for the Little Sellers Art Prize Presentation and to the media by phone, email or in person following the announcement of winner.
Acquittal: the recipient must provide an expenditure breakdown and outline of educational activities undertaken as part of the scholarship. The online is to be submitted to Council's Arts and Culture Coordinator, Indira Carmichael by Friday 25 November 2023. Photographic documentation of current work is desirable as part of this outline.
Reproduction of work: the Bas has the right to reproduce the winning artwork by print or electronic media for the purposes of advertising, promotion, and documentation of the art prize and scholarship.
