Art exhibition: Held in form - Lizette Richards

-

Where: Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre, corner Vulcan and Campbell streets, Moruya

Opening hours: Monday to Saturday, 10am – 4pm.

Held in Form brings together wearable and sculptural works by Lizette Richards that explore memory, identity and transformation through silver, porcelain and textile. Drawn from personal experiences of loss, belonging and change, the exhibition treats jewellery as a small, carried archive, translating lived experiences into intimate forms worn on the body alongside sculptural works that extend these narratives into space.

Central to the exhibition is an interest in materials that embody contradiction. Silver can be both strong and delicate, porcelain fragile yet enduring, and textile soft yet resilient. Together, they reflect the nature of memory itself: durable in some places, worn thin in others, occasionally broken and mended.

Created from a coastal studio environment and informed by erosion, salt-worn surfaces and the traces left by time, the works reflect on the ways memory is accumulated, altered and preserved. Referencing the long history of adornment as a form of personal expression and cultural connection, Held in Form invites audiences to consider how stories, emotions and identities can be held in objects we see, touch, wear and carry with us.
