John Sharman
Born in Sydney in 1947, John Sharman is an Australian painter now based on the South Coast of New South Wales. A compulsive drawer from childhood, he has worked as a full‑time professional artist since 1980.
John’s practice spans landscapes, seascapes, still life and beach‑focused figurative works, painted in a realist–impressionist style. His formative years included painting alongside Robert Simpson, Doug, Kasey and Ritchie Sealy, and Allan Fizzell - influences that helped shape his approach and technique.
Most of John’s works are created en plein air, painted directly on location to capture the light, mood and immediacy of the moment.
